Job Description

<Position Objective/Expectation> 
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmologist to join our team at our Hospital, part of the Group. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care, with a particular focus on Phacoemulsification surgery for cataract treatment, as well as other advanced ophthalmic procedures. This role involves both clinical practice and the opportunity to contribute to training and potentially research.

<Job Responsibilities> 
- Perform Phacoemulsification surgeries for cataract treatment, utilizing ultrasonic technology to emulsify and aspirate the cloudy lens, and implanting intraocular lenses.
- Proficiently execute advanced eye techniques beyond Level 1, 2, and 3, including: Intravitreal injections, diagnosis & treatment of diabetic retinopathy.
- Perform all techniques from Level 1-4, including complex glaucoma surgery and retinal detachment surgery.
- Capable of independently performing complex Phaco cases.
- Diagnose, treat, and manage various eye conditions and diseases.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients.
- Contribute to the planning of preventive measures for potential quality issues in ophthalmic procedures.
- Conduct quality checks and ensure high standards in all ophthalmic practices.
- Investigate the cause of quality defects, plan countermeasures, and confirm improvement progress when defects occur.
- Capable of developing ophthalmic techniques within the hospital.
- Provide internal Phaco training for junior doctors.
- Participate in research and the development of in-depth protocols.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Ensure compliance with all medical, ethical, and hospital standards and regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with medical staff, nurses, and administrative teams.
- Report to and assist the General Director on related professional matters.

Job Requirement

<Necessary Skill / Experience >
・Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medicine (MD) with a Post-graduate Specialization Certificate (BSCK I or equivalent) in Ophthalmology.
・Language: Business skills in English 
* Good command of English (Business Level) for professional communication and medical literature.
・Experience:
- Minimum of 5 – 8 years of total work experience in Ophthalmology.
- Proven experience in performing Phacoemulsification surgery with a track record of 100 – 300 successful cases.
- Demonstrated experience in setting up ophthalmic surgical teams.
・Skills:
- Exceptional surgical skills in Phacoemulsification and other complex ophthalmic procedures.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical reasoning abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff.
- Ability to learn and master new ophthalmic techniques independently.
- Capable of training and mentoring junior medical professionals.
- Good understanding of medical protocols and ability to contribute to their development.
- Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Responsible, able to work well under pressure.

<Preferable Skill / Experience>
・Preferably experienced in a hospital or Japanese company environment.
・Japanese (Business Level) is highly preferred for communication with leadership and potential collaboration within the Group.
