Job Description
<Job Responsibilities> - Design 2D flat patterns for composite layups, considering forming constraints and structural needs. - Develop 3D forming patterns from 2D layouts, incorporating spring-back and forming behavior. - Design and engineer thermal forming molds based on 3D CAD data, with consideration for manufacturability and performance. - Create 2D waterjet nesting programs to optimize material usage and cut efficiency. - Perform FEA analysis for: + Simulating the forming process + Evaluating stress, strain, and structural integrity of final parts + Providing actionable feedback to customers to improve and optimize their designs - Interface with customers and internal teams to ensure engineering solutions align with performance requirements and expectations. - Lead or contribute to hands-on mold tuning and thermal forming trials. - Collaborate closely with the machine shop during the tool fabrication process. - Apply DOE (Design of Experiments) principles to evaluate and optimize process variables. - Understand and apply structure-property relationships in thermoplastic composites. - Operate and troubleshoot forming press equipment, understanding thermal forming dynamics and polymer crystallization behavior. - Manage engineering projects, including: + Planning and tracking deliverables + Coordinating across departments + Meeting deadlines under tight schedules and pressure + Maintaining on-time delivery commitments
Job Requirement
<Necessary Skill / Experience > ・Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. ・Language: English - Business Level ・Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a CAD/FEA (Finite Element Analysis) engineering role within composites, plastics, or thermoforming industries. • Proficient in 2D/3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, NX). • Skilled in FEA tools (e.g., Abaqus, Ansys) for both forming simulation and structural/stress analysis. • Experience with waterjet cutting and nesting software. • Strong understanding of thermoplastic material behavior, thermal forming, and polymer crystallization. • Demonstrated project management skills with a track record of meeting critical milestones under pressure. • Excellent communication skills; able to interface effectively with customers, machine shops, and cross-functional teams.
