Job Description

Our client, a Canadian Banking group, is now looking an experienced candidate to join their expanding team:


Vice President (Fixed Income Rate Sales)

This role is responsible for marketing and sales of fixed income to Japanese asset managers and investors.

 

Duties

  • Identify, prospect and onboard qualified investors in Japan for the purchase and sale of North American interest rate product. 
  • Assist broadly in the company's and other team members’ expansion with Japanese accounts, navigating them through the specific protocols required while marketing the firm’s capabilities and products.
  • Provide trading ideas and market information to customers and also recommend trading strategies for furthering company's participation in the Asian fixed income markets. 
  • Translating relevant market information, presentations and reports in to Japanese for the relevant clients.
  • Assisting in all parts of the settlement cycle to insure a smooth trade to settlement process for both the investor and the company. 
  • Entail dealing with Japanese execution and back office staff and translating/liaising with North American back office. 
  • Require the candidate to support senior members of the desk and generally participate as an active team member of Financial Products and Debt Products sales.


Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree and be able to be registered/licensed as per local regulations.
  • The incumbent is expected to be fully fluent in both Japanese and English in both written and spoken means. 
  • Familiar with Japanese asset managers and investors with an account/prospect list. 
  • Have sales experience with the desired account base in fixed income, money market or other interest rate markets. 
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in North American or other periphery fixed income markets.
  • Willing to learn all aspects of the North American interest rate markets including cash fixed income, money market, repos, swaps and other interest rate derivatives and the influencing factors of that market. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn quickly in a high pressure, fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience in a trading room and trading environment is required. 
  • Experience in back or middle office functions will also be looked on favorably given the settlement aspects of the role. 
  • Able to work and succeed in a demanding environment including displaying strong relationship and interpersonal skills, strong numerical/analytical skills and good organizational skills. 
  • Given the back office is in North America, the candidate must be able to work remotely and outside normal trading hours.
